Memorial Day

Here in South Carolina, we observe Memorial Day for soldiers who died during current and past wars.  And, strangely, we also have a separate Confederate Memorial Day for Confederate soldiers who died during the Civil War.  We don’t yet have a separate Veterans’ Day, but with Sen. Happy Confederate Memorial Day!  Today is the day we honor the service of the Confederate soldiers who died during the Civil War.  The tenth of May marks the end of the Civil War because Jefferson Davis was captured in Georgia on this day in 1865.
